Bio:
William J. Mitchell handles complex insurance coverage issues with significant exposure and oversees general liability, dwelling and homeowner, professional liability, premises liability, life insurance, construction defect, commercial and environmental claims, from file inception to resolution. This includes significant risk transfer and third-party practice, with an excellent rate of success through negotiation, motion practice, appellate practice or trial. In addition to insurance coverage, Mr. Mitchell ‘s practice also includes contractual and commercial litigation. He has briefed and argued appellate matters before New York and New Jersey appellate courts and the Second Circuit Court of Appeals.
Mr. Mitchell serves as National Counsel for a major insurance company and State Counsel for a global retail client. Prior to forming BMMP, he was a partner at a large New York firm.
Mr. Mitchell is an honors graduate of St. John’s University School of Law, where he was Articles & Notes Editor of St. John’s Law Review. He has authored numerous articles and presented many lectures on various topics related to insurance law and contracts. He is admitted to practice before the Courts of the State of New York and the State of New Jersey, the U.S. Supreme Court, as well as the U.S. District Court for Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, the District of New Jersey, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
