Bio:
Stephen A. Saltzman is an accomplished trial attorney with more than three decades of litigation experience representing insurers, corporations, property owners, contractors, and injured individuals in complex personal injury and wrongful death matters in the New York State and Federal District Courts.
Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Saltzman served as an Assistant District Attorney in Bronx County’s Domestic Violence and Sex Crimes Bureau, where he prosecuted serious felony cases involving homicide, sexual assault, rape, and child abuse. The experience provided a strong trial foundation and helped shape his commitment to advocacy on behalf of those he represents.
Over the course of his career, Mr. Saltzman has litigated thousands of cases and developed substantial experience handling high-exposure and complex litigation matters from inception through trial. He spent 15 years representing plaintiffs in personal injury actions involving construction accidents, premises liability, motor vehicle collisions, toxic exposure, and sexual abuse claims, obtaining numerous verdicts and settlements exceeding $1,000,000. This experience provides him with valuable insight into the strategies, evaluation methods, and litigation approaches commonly employed by plaintiffs’ counsel.
Mr. Saltzman’s practice is now focused primarily on the defense of construction accident, premises liability, automobile accident, wrongful death, and catastrophic injury claims on behalf of residential and commercial property and automobile owners and operators, general contractors, businesses, and insurers. Having represented both plaintiffs and defendants throughout his career, Mr. Saltzman brings a unique perspective to each case, allowing him to identify risk, anticipate opposing arguments, and develop practical strategies designed to achieve favorable outcomes.
Most recently, Mr. Saltzman served for nine years as Senior Trial Counsel with The Hartford’s New York Staff Legal Office, where he defended insureds and the company in a broad range of personal injury, wrongful death, property damage, and subrogation matters. He successfully handled numerous complex and high-value cases, obtaining defense verdicts, findings of no liability, and other favorable resolutions consistent with the interests of his clients.
Mr. Saltzman is a member of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association and the New York State Academy of Trial Lawyers. He has also lectured in continuing legal education programs on topics including motor vehicle litigation, New York’s serious injury threshold, and uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage.
